A Guide to Starting and Quitting with Seth Godin

This e-book was born out of curiosity and a conversation inspired by five key questions a large number of people from my community have often asked me:

We had a live conversation answering these questions, and I turned that into an ebook specially for you. In this book I share key tips inspired by a conversation I had with Seth Godin, on starting and quitting. I hope it helps you start (or quit). I hope you enjoy it.

Dear Seth, how have you stayed consistent over the years?

Seth:

For me, I wanted to be able to say to people every day,

“I‘ll say something that you might know but that you might be glad you might be reminded of.”

“Every day, I‘ll say something that you might want to share or not.”

And most of the time, when I can, I’ll try to make it about the person who is reading it.

And if you go to bed every night, knowing that that’s on your agenda for the next day, then it’s more likely that you’ll be able to write something.

I only decide once to be able to write a blog every day and once you decide to do that every day, after that, all you have to do is keep your promise.

Most of what we do at work, we do intentionally, with preparation or at least a bit of direct effort.

Starting is like that. We can schedule for it. We can train for it, plan for it, announce it, and even hire for it.

So the idea of consistency is to make a promise, one that you can keep.

We want someone who is consistent. We want someone who is going to do their best even if they don’t feel like it.

We want someone who is going to make a promise and keep it.

Action is easy once you have a plan. Formulating a plan, however, is a rare and valuable skill.
